Agency Connections

Advocates for the Rights of Citizens, Supports developmentally disabled students and adults with applying for community resources, 425-258-2459

disAbility Resource Connection – offers 1:1 benefits counseling, literacy, housing information, self-advocacy support, young woman’s group, and bi-monthly young peoples meeting. 425-347-5768

Social Security Administration – financial support for people whose disability prevents gainful employment – Supplemental Security Income. Also SSI for children (under 18) with disabilities, family income is considered. Call 1.800.772-1213 for an appointment. www.ssa.gov

TeamChild - provides legal assistance and advocacy to young people in the juvenile justice system.  Team Child makes a difference for youth in trouble by helping them get the services they need to change their lives.  TeamChild addresses the underlying causes of juvenile delinquency by advocating for education, mental & medical health services, safe living situation and other supports.  425-258-3132.

Friends of Youth - is a group of special places that provide an array of services for young people and their families in the areas of prevention, shelter care and housing, and treatment across King & Snohomish Counties in Washington State.  Friends of Youth offers homeless young adults a supportive, group environment in which to live while working towards self-sufficiency.   425-338-2411.

Transportation: Mukilteo School District is served by Community Transit and Everett TransitFor Disability transit service: If you live outside of the city limits of Everett contact DART at 425-347-5912.  For Everett City limit residents, contact PARA-Transit at 425-257-8801.  Replacing the school bus does become necessary - think about how you will get around in the summer, weekends and after graduation.

 

Employment

WorkSource CentersFREE public service for all persons seeking employment.. WorkSource has a Navigator, a person who can assist persons with disabilities to access employment and enrollment into vocational supports.  Search the jobs.

United Way of Snohomish County actively posts volunteer opportunities.  An easy to use website!  A great place to start for work experience!!  Click on the "Volunteer Center" tab to browse the opportunities that interest you.

The Herald Newspaper Classifieds are on-line.  Do a word specific search: part-time, entry-level.  Or: restaurant, clerical, engineer, teacher, etc.
